On Friday, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said many developing and developed nations are approaching the Indian government to set up IIT campuses there.

He said these are no longer just Indian Institutes of Technology but have evolved instruments of transformation.

While addressing the inaugural ceremony of IInvenTiv at IIT Delhi, Pradhan stated that many developing and developed nations are approaching the Indian government to set up IIT campuses in their countries at their own expense. I feel proud that India’s collective wisdom in experimenting with IITs is gaining global recognition, he added.

Union Minister said we have to stop benchmarking IITs on the basis of placement packages. IITs should redefine parameters and benchmark on the digit of inventions or innovations into the market, innovations monetised, and jobs created.

Technology will navigate the following growth & development phase with IT and communications technology among the frontrunners. The world today will support and invest more vigorously in India. India’s mastery, digital-first mindset, market size, emerging purchasing power, and increasing aspirations are a heady combination to take India forward at an exceptional speed and scale. All IITs should seize this opportunity, Pradhan said.

Union Minister also highlighted that the covid-19 pandemic had shown what happens when technology-driven research devotes itself to the service of the human race. He mentioned the development of Indian vaccines in such a short time. These vaccines not only helped Indians but millions of people across the world. He said it has all been achievable because of brilliant minds like yours.

He said these are the signs of an Aatmanirbhar Bharat and there is a need to encourage the relationship between Academic research and development, industry and society, futuristic technology, and even more to take research and innovation to the zenith so that no individual is left behind.
