The National Commission for Indian System of Medicine Bill 2020 along with the National Commission for Homeopathy Bill 2020 has been passed by the Parliament and Lok Sabha has also approved them.

The National Commission for Indian System of Medicine Bill 2020 seeks the revocation of the Indian Medicine Central Council Act, 1970 to establish a National Commission for Indian System of Medicine whereas the National Commission for Homeopathy Bill 2020 is seeking to repeal the Homeopathy Central Council Act 1973 to establish National Commission for Homeopathy.

These bills also propose configuration of Advisory Councils for both Indian System of Medicine as well as Homeopathy which will act as a principle tenet for Union Territories and States to state their concerns and suggestions before the commissions.

The another objective of the Council will be to determine the standards of medical education in the country.
