The petition has been filed by the parents of the students who have registered for NEET 2020 to postpone the exam due to the current corona pandemic. The parents approached the SC after the Kerala High Court's decision to dismiss the plea.

As per the appeal, the parents of the candidates who reside in gulf countries are seeking the postponement of the exam due to the corona pandemic.

According to the plea, the Kerala HC stated that the National Testing Agency has the authority and willingness to shift the exam centers to gulf countries. In turn, NTA stated that the shifting of the exam centers to gulf countries depends on approval from the Medical Council of India. In this regard, the MCI released the statement that NEET can not be conducted in Online mode.

On Wednesday, the Supreme Court sought the response from MCI (Medical Council of India) and the Central Government in this regard stating that the current situation can't be ignored and a flexible option must be provided by the authorities in these exceptional circumstances.
