The Supreme Court has taken the decision regarding the EWS/ OBC quota plea for the NEET PG Counselling 2021. The SC, in an interim order, has accepted the 27% OBC and 10% EWS quotas for NEET-PG admissions.

The top court has also given its nod to the recommendations of the Ajay Bhushan Pandey committee which favoured to continue Rs 08 lakh criteria for the identification of the Economically Weaker Sections for the ongoing admission cycle.

The special bench led by Justice DY Chandrachud and Justice AS Bopanna concluded the matter.

The bench also informed that the matter regarding the validity of Rs. 08 lakh criteria to determine the EWS for future years will remain subject to final judgement.

The Ajay Bhushan Pandey Committee comprising Principal Economic Advisor Sanjeev Sanyal and Member Secretary ICSSR V K Malhotra was founded to examine the feasibility of the Rs 08 lakh limit.
