The Supreme Court has allowed NLSIU (National Law School of India University) to conduct their separate entrance exams but the court's approval is required for the result declaration and the admission intake.

The plea was filed by Prof. Venkata Rao, former Vice-Chancellor of the National Law School of India University, challenging the resolution to hold NLAT (National Law Aptitude Test).

Earlier the university took the decision to not consider CLAT (Common Law Admission Test) for the admissions into the integrated program of B.A LL.B Hons. for the 2020-21 academic session due to CLAT being postponed repeatedly. The registration process for the exam was open from Sept 03 to Sept 10.

As per the official notice issued by the authorities, "If NLSIU is unable to complete admissions before the end of September 2020 it will inevitably result in a 'Zero Year' with no admission".
