The Centre has informed the Supreme Centre that an additional attempt for the UPSC Civil Services Examination is 'not possible'. Three students who have cleared UPSC CSE Prelims 2021 have filed a plea in the SC seeking an extra attempt as they could not appear for the Mains 2021 after testing COVID positive.

Additional Solicitor General Aishwarya Bhati, while hearing, said, "We have filed an affidavit. Additional attempts are not possible. We have considered that". ACG informed this to the bench of Justice A M Khanwilkar and Justice A S Oka

Recently, the UPSC had informed the top court that there is no provision to conduct the re-examination in case any candidate fails to appear on the scheduled date for whatever reasons.
