The Government has notified that there will be no change in the pattern of NEET (National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test) - Undergraduate 2021. The NEET-UG 2021 is scheduled to be held in offline mode in June-July 2021.

Amit Khare, Secretary of Higher Education, claimed that it would be unfair to the students to change the pattern at such a short notice. He further added that the NEET-UG can't be delayed as it will affect the upcoming session.

The Ministry of Education wished to conduct the medical entrance online more than once a year but the Ministry of Health couldn't agree on time. Keeping in mind the successful conduction of the JEE Mains and improvement in students' scores and attendance, the demand to conduct NEET-UG in the same manner has grown.

Khare added that the medical entrance should be conducted more than once a year to give a chance to the student who, for some reason, could not attempt the exam properly. Their one year should not be wasted. But, it must be in online mode since so many exams are already being held in offline mode. He further added that it is important for all stakeholders to consult to conduct NEET-UG multiple times since there is a huge difference between JEE and NEET as NEET is compulsory for medical colleges whereas JEE is not.

Secretary also reported that the date for NEET-UG examination 2021 will be announced soon.
