Chief Minister of UP Yogi Adiyanath, in a meeting with officials, announced that no merit list would be declared. Earlier, the govt announced the cancellation of UP Board Class 10 and Class 12 exams due to COVID-19.

The meeting also decided that these students will be given a chance to attempt exams when conditions normalizes so that they may get a fair opportunity to improve their marks. For now, the marks would be awarded mainly on the basis of obtained marks in the pre-board exams and previous class.

The Secondary Education Department also informed that they are providing an option for those students who are not satisfied with their marks, the board will allow them to attempt the exam next year when the examinations will be conducted.

A committee has also been formed under Additional Chief Secretary of the Secondary Education Aradhana Shukla to formulate a criteria to award marks for the cancelled exams. Around 4,000 suggestions have been received from educationists, teachers, parents, and the general public regarding the evaluation of marks.

A total of 29,94,312 high school students from 27,808 schools and 26,10,316 intermediate level students from 17,697 colleges are involved. In a way, the Govt will be deciding the evaluation process to award marks to 56,04,628 candidates.
