As per the New Education Policy, teaching for the students up to 5th class, if possible up to 8th class, will be in the regional language, mother tongue, and local language.

While this decision has been welcomed but some concerns have also been voiced.

On the pro side, students will have the comfort and confidence of their regional/ local language which in turn will improve their study and grades positively. This step will also encourage the multilateralism concept. But it will be difficult for these students to endure the hardship of facing the new syllabus of higher classes which will most probably be in English and this con side of this particular decision can't be ignored.

Many school principals have different opinions and most of them are against this decision keeping in mind the hardship the students will have to face. They are not outright opposing the decision but their concern is valid as English has become a universal language and to keep students from learning this language will only make their situation hard when they will face the real world.

The idea of multilateralism is being accepted but the focus should not only be on regional./ local languages and English should be in equation.
