The Odisha Government has taken the decision to provide free exam guide books to all the students studying in Class 10 and preparing for the Board examination. The announcement was made by S R Dash, School and Mass Education Minister.

The Minister announced, "The state government will distribute free of cost 'Pariksha Darpan' (Exam Guide) book to all the 6,20,508 students who will appear in the annual matriculation (Class 10) examination". 'Pariksha Darpan' is a 700-page guide book to help students to prepare for the upcoming board exams.

The Minister further added, "In order to reduce the stress of the students, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had asked the department to help candidates". Earlier, the state govt took the decision to reduce the Class 10 syllabus by 30%.

The free guide books will be distributed to students studying in private, government-aided, and government schools and preparing for the board examination scheduled to be conducted by the BSE (Board of Secondary Education). The examination is scheduled to start on May 03.

Earlier, the Chief Minister took the decision of examination fee waiver of the matriculation examination for which the state govt will bear Rs. 27 Crores.
