Dr. K Sudhakar, Karnataka Medical Education Minister, has given the go-ahead to the pension scheme for the teaching and non-teaching staff of the Medical Education Department which will benefit all the permanent staff of government-affiliated medical and dental colleges and super-specialty hospitals.



There are a total of 27 institutes across the state having 5949 employees out of which 2061 are AICTE recognized and 3888 belong to non-AICTE which will cost Rs. 77.27 crores annually to the government.



All permanent employees who have been appointed after 01 April 2006, are eligible to apply for the scheme.



A memorandum for the implementation of the scheme had been submitted by the members of the Medical Education Department to Dr. Sudhakar right after he took charge of the post.
