On Friday, 29 July, during the second anniversary of the launch of NEP, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said a strong government is responsive rather than restrictive, knows its limitations, and makes greater space for people and their freedom. He quoted the National Education Policy 2020 as an example of assuring greater freedom for youth.

At the 42nd Convocation of Anna University in Chennai, Modi stated that the bunch of recent sectoral reforms has opened up new opportunities for citizens. He added that a strong government does not control everything and everyone. It controls the system's impulse to intrude. A strong government is not restrictive but is responsive and does not move into every domain. It limits itself and makes space for the talents of the people. The ability of a strong government lies in its humanity to accept that it cannot know or do everything. That is why we see reforms in every sphere that helps in creating space for people and their freedom. The new NEP (National Education Policy) assures freedom for young people to make decisions according to evolving situations.

A day after the inauguration of the 44th Chess Olympiad, in the presence of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin, PM stated that in the era of technology-led disruption, a strong government does not intrude and gives freedom, as offered by National Education Policy 2020. The DMK government of the state objected and declined to acquire three-language formula under the policy, categorically declaring that it would resume following the state(s) two-language system of Tamil and English that has been in place since the 1960s. Stalin's government is outlining its state education policy. PM Modi also spoke on the reforms commenced by his government to boost the economy in detail.

Stalin also spoke about his state education policy that education is the only wealth that no one can steal or take away from you, and they believe there should be no obstacle to education. He also said that the Dravidian model by their government is an initiative to take education forward. The Dravidian ideology of social justice is based on education for everyone while calling on learners to seek higher education and research.

Stalin also mentioned the welfare schemes by his government to boost enrolment in schools and colleges. He stated that they are bringing in an education revolution and do not want to restrict students to just getting degrees. They are also helping students with job opportunities, societal growth, and life skills. While communicating, he recollected that Tamil Nadu's Higher Education institutions scored among the top in the NIRF rankings and industrial advancement. The chief minister told the graduates that one day they would proudly fill in their children about receiving their degree certificates from the Prime Minster.

After the ceremony ended, Prime Minister Narendra Modi went to numerous classrooms at Anna University to greet the graduating students who could not be present at the main venue due to space limitations.
