Pargat Singh, Punjab Higher Education Minister, announced that the dept. will soon recruit candidates on 1158 vacant posts. These notified posts also include teaching cadre posts in govt colleges in the state.

The Dept will complete the recruitment process within 45 days, notified the Minister. The vacancy details are mentioned below:

Teaching Cadre	1091
Librarian in Govt Colleges	67

A selection committee will be formed to complete the recruitment process which will be chaired by the concerned vice-chancellors. The recruitment will be done by Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar and Punjabi University, Patiala.

According to the official statement, the recruitment will be done according to the UGC (University Grants Commission) guidelines. A written test will be conducted on the basis of which the candidates will be shortlisted.

He also informed that the upper age limit will be relaxed for guest faculty, contractual, and part-timer teachers in government-run colleges. A weightage of 01 mark/ year will be granted to them subjecting to the max of five marks with respect to their experience.
