The Punjab School Education Department has taken the decision to restart primary classes from Jan 27 at all schools. Earlier, the state govt. took the decision to reopen schools for students studying in Class 05 to Class 12.

Vijay Inder Singla, Education Minister, released a statement, "Following persistent demand of parents, the state government has decided to reopen all schools for primary classes from Jan 27". The Minister also added that the Class 03 and Class 04 students will be able to attend the school from Jan 27, 2021, whereas students of Class 01 and Class 02 will be restarting the school from Feb 01, 2021.

The parents will have to grant consent before sending their children to schools and the timings will remain the same as before i.e. 10 am to 03 pm. The Education Minister also directed school management and officials to ensure the proper cleaning of the campuses while keeping in mind the COVID-19 safety norms.
