On Tuesday, the Supreme Court directed the AIIMS (All India Institute of Medical Science), Gorakhpur to conduct examinations for the eleven first-year students who were denied permission due to their low attendance caused by COVID-19.



Justice L Nageswara Rao who was heading the bench at Apex Court ordered AIIMS Gorakhpur to conduct the examinations. He further added that the decision should not be considered as an example.



Eleven students of AIIMS Gorakhpur had filed the petition in the Apex Court seeking its orders to permit them to attempt the first-year examinations.



These students had filed the petition under Article 32 of the Indian Constitution looking for appropriate orders to the concerned authorities.



The AIIMS Gorakhpur had denied the eleven students to appear in the first-year examinations due to their low attendance.
