The Supreme Court has dismissed the plea seeking cancellation of offline board exams for Class 10 and Class 12. The plea was filed against all state boards, ICSE, CBSE, and the National Institute of Open Schooling which has scheduled their Term-II exams to be held in offline mode.

The bench headed by Justice A M Khanwilkar, while rejecting the appeal, observed that such a petition creates 'false hope and confusion' among students. The bench also comprised Justice C T Ravikumar and Justice Dinesh Maheshwari.

The Bench said, "This creates not only false hopes, it creates confusion all over to students who are preparing".

Anubha Shrivastava Sahai, an advocate and child rights activist, filed the plea along with the Student Union of Odisha-NYCS seeking directions against all education boards' decision to conduct board examinations in offline mode. The plea was demanding to devise alternate modes of assessment for the Term-II Exams.

Expressing displeasure over the verdict, Sahai said, "these students, too, will suffer like students of last two years' batches".

Meanwhile, the Term-I results are yet to be announced. CBSE has already announced to conduct Term-II board exams from April 26.
