Vijay Inder Singla, Education Minister of Punjab has notified that the timing of the government, government-aided, and private schools will be changed from Feb 22 i.e. Monday. As per the statement released by the Education Department, the timing of the Primary Schools will be from 09 am to 03 pm while the timing of the High and Senior Secondary Schools will be from 09 am to 03:20 pm.

The Education Minister further added that this is a crucial time for students as they must be doing final revisions before the annual exams and the department took the decision to change the school timing due to the persistent demand of teachers and parents.

Single added, "Before the reopening of schools, classes were being conducted online through various means which minimized physical interaction between the teachers and students". He further mentioned that the pre-board examinations are being conducted in schools and special attention will be imparted on students after carefully reviewing their performance. Since the school timings have been changed now, students and teachers will have an extra hour to revise which will definitely help them in the examination, he added.

Punjab schools were reopened in January 2021, after the long-drawn lockdown imposed by the govt due to the COVID-19.
