The Sikkim government has taken the decision to grant self-defence training to girl students studying from Class 06 to Class 10 in all government schools, as notified by the officials.

While inaugurating the training programme at Samdong Government Senior Secondary School, Special Secretary of Education Department Bhim Thatal said that the girl students would be trained to defend themselves.

He further added that the self-defence training will help in instilling discipline in the students as well as to be ready for the following challenges.

The training will be provided in taekwondo, boxing, karate, and kickboxing, as notified by the Special Secretary.
