Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao Established Eight New Medical Colleges

In order to establish one government medical college in every district in Telangana, the state government has initiated eight new college classes, which began on Tuesday. With this, the number of government medical colleges in the state has increased to 17.



K Chandrasekhar Rao, Telangana Chief Minister, opened eight new government medical colleges in one go.



The chief minister inaugurated the classrooms for the first-year students of MBBS in the eight colleges via online mode from his camp office-cum-official residence- Pragati Bhavan.



According to the information by the official release, the eight medical colleges were in Sangareddy, Kothagudem, Manchiryala, Jagityala, Mahabubabad, Wanaparthy, Nagarkurnool, and Ramagundam.



The chief minister stated that opening eight medical colleges on a single day is a proud moment. The State government had scheduled to set up one medical college in each district. The government has spent about 4,080 crores on infrastructure for these medical colleges. The government had approved the budget without any financial contribution from the Centre.



As per the release, the number of government medical colleges raised to 17, spread over 16 districts, and new colleges need to be initiated in the other 17 districts. The number of MBBS seats available or open in the medical colleges was 850 earlier, and the number boosted to 2,790 today.
