Today, September 15, 2023, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao marked a momentous occasion by virtually inaugurating nine new government medical colleges in the state. These newly launched medical colleges are located in various districts, including Karimnagar, Kamareddy, Khammam, Jayashankar Bhupalapalli, Kumram Bhim Asifabad, Nirmal, Rajanna Sirisilla, Vikarabad, and Janagam.



This expansion in medical education is nothing short of remarkable. It elevates the number of government medical colleges in Telangana from just five in 2014 to an impressive 26. Additionally, the availability of medical seats has significantly increased, growing from 2,850 to 8,516.



The Telangana government's commitment to bolstering medical education is evident in its plans for the future. In addition to the newly inaugurated colleges, the government has sanctioned the establishment of eight more medical colleges in 2024. This initiative has been aptly referred to as the white coat revolution in the state.
