The Tamil Nadu Transport Minister has announced the free bus travel to state students in government buses. The students can access the free bus facility by showing their Identity Cards.

The Tamil Nadu Govt has reopened the higher classes for students from Class 09 to Class 12.

R S Rajakannappan, the Transport Minister, informed that the students wearing school uniforms can also access free bus travel till their bus passes are made available.

The Minister also added that this free facility is also available for the students of polytechnic colleges, government colleges, and ITIs (Industry Training Institutes).

The Tamil Nadu govt has also informed that the kerala students who are studying or wish to study in Tamil Nadu colleges must produce RT-PCR negative certificate and vaccination certificate within 72 hours of their arrival in the state. This measure is being taken because of the spike in fresh COVID cases in the state, added the state higher education department.

Chief Minister MK Stalin also conducted a high-level meeting to review the prevailing COVID situation as the govt has scheduled to reopen the schools from Sept 01.

The hostel facility will also be reopened with strict COVID protocols. The school and college authorities have also been directed to vaccinate their staff.

CM Stalin also requested students and parents to continue wearing masks and maintaining social distance. They must also follow safety guidelines at all times issued by the state health department, he added.
