The University College London (UCL) has initiated the India Excellence Scholarships alongside an exciting Summer School programme, aiming to foster academic opportunities for 100 Indian students seeking higher education and cultural enrichment.

The India Excellence Scholarships programme by UCL is a testament to the university's commitment to global diversity and academic excellence. These scholarships aim to support outstanding Indian students pursuing undergraduate or postgraduate studies at UCL.

Valued for their academic merit, these scholarships offer financial assistance, facilitating access to UCL's esteemed educational programmes. The scholarships cover a range of disciplines, encouraging Indian students to explore various fields and contribute to the vibrant academic community at UCL.

In its official statement, UCL announced the allocation of 33 scholarships for the upcoming academic year of 2024-25, with an additional 67 scholarships to be granted in the subsequent two years. These scholarships are exclusively reserved for exceptional students with a demonstrated track record or potential to achieve a first-class degree in their academic pursuits.

Eligibility and Application Process

Open to Indian nationals with exceptional academic achievements, the India Excellence Scholarships require candidates to demonstrate academic excellence, leadership potential, and a strong commitment to contributing to society. The application process involves a stringent selection procedure that evaluates candidates based on academic transcripts, reference letters, personal statements, and, in some cases, interviews. The scholarships aim to support deserving students, helping them unleash their potential and contribute to their chosen fields of study.

Under the UCL India Excellence Scholarships, prospective Master's students across diverse disciplines are eligible to receive financial support of £5,000, aiding them in their educational journey at UCL.

In a parallel initiative, UCL has revealed plans for its pioneering Summer School, scheduled to be held at The British School campus in New Delhi, India. The primary objective behind this novel venture is to provide pre-university Indian students with a firsthand experience of the academic environment and cultural diversity synonymous with top-tier UK universities. Set to take place from 10th to 14th June 2024, the inaugural UCL India Summer School is designed for 50 students in years 10 and 11.
