Students who were evacuated from war-torn Ukraine protested here on Friday in an effort to get admission to medical schools across the nation. To avoid losing an academic year, they have pleaded with the government to temporarily accommodate the pupils. The National Medical Commission was the target of a protest by MBBS students and their parents from Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Uttarakhand, and Madhya Pradesh, and Rajasthan.

"Online education is not a good choice for students because they are all aspiring doctors. All students in Indian medical colleges must be accommodated, is our demand "the Parents' Association of Ukrainian Medical Students stated in a statement. The association's president, RB Gupta, said: "We have assembled here to ask the government for assistance with housing for our kids. A second-year student, studying in Ivano, is my child. We are simply asking the government to make these accommodations once for these kids."

The pupils expressed concern for their future as a result of the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. "The end of this battle is unknown. Our academic work is being impacted. All of the money that our parents have spent, along with the debts that many of them have taken, will be worthless if we are unable to finish our studies. Therefore, the government ought to make accommodations for us, said a 5th-year MBBS student who wished to remain unnamed. Another student, Vaishali, stated that it will take time for the universities in Ukraine to return to normal even if the fighting there ends soon. "This is important for our future. Even after the battle is over, it will take time for universities to resume their regular academic program. Our year would be wasted in that scenario. We request assistance from the government, she said. Our year would be wasted in that scenario. We request assistance from the government, she said.

After Russian forces launched an offensive against Ukraine, thousands of Indian students enrolled in various medical institutes there were forced to drop out of their education and return home. Parents of MBBS students protested at Jantar Mantar in April as well, pleading with the government to step in and accept their kids into medical schools.

A PIL was submitted to the Supreme Court earlier in March asking for guidance on the subject of Indian medical students who were evacuated from Ukraine being admitted and allowed to continue their studies in the nation. In addition, a request was made for instructions to the Center to offer a program for medical topic equivalency orientation in order to accept them to the Indian curriculum.

The Indian Medical Association has also advised Prime Minister Narendra Modi to temporarily accommodate these students at Indian medical schools. The IMA stated in a letter sent to Modi on March 4 that such students should be allowed to continue their MBBS studies at Indian medical colleges through a "appropriate dispersed distribution," but that this should not be interpreted as a rise in the annual intake capacity.
