UNESCO Launches State of the Education Report for India 2022: Artificial Intelligence in Education

UNESCO- United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization released its State of the Education Report for India: According to the press release Artificial Intelligence in Education- Here, There and Everywhere. The report is the fourth edition and is an annual flagship report.



The UNESCO New Delhi Office annual flagship report- is based on comprehensive research. The press release further notes that the fourth edition offers an introduction to Artificial Intelligence (AI) in order to clarify a subject that would have experienced various misconceptions. It is also counted with challenges and opportunities in the Indian Education Sector that AI can address.



According to the press release, the AI Market in India is possible to reach US Dollar 7.8 billion by 2025 at the rate of 20.2% compound annual growth and to match India’s curriculum to make the students prepared for the AI economy, India’s National Education Policy (NEP 2020) applies a significant intensity on the necessity to impart the necessary technical knowledge and the integration of AI in Education to promote quality and skill-based education.





The press release also notes that there are ten recommendations:




  • Considering the ethics of Artificial Intelligence in Education as a maximum priority.

  • Rapidly providing a comprehensive regulatory framework for Artificial Intelligence in Education.

  • Create influential public-private partnerships.

  • Make sure that all students and teachers have access to the latest technology.

  • Boost AI literacy efforts.

  • Try to correct algorithmic biases and the resulting bias.

  • Enhance public faith in Artificial Intelligence.

  • Request the private sector to better involve students and educationists in designing and developing AI products.

  • Place ownership of data with the scholars.

  • Welcome the versatility of Artificial Intelligence in Education techniques.



It further mentioned that the report has been developed by an expert team of researchers under the direction of the UNESCO New Delhi Office.
