UNICEF- The United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund has decided to set-up the mobile educational lessons for children who lost their family members due to the devastating earthquakes of June that bounced the southeastern regions of Afghanistan.

According to Local Media, the humanitarian body has decided to set up 140 mobile classes for more than 4,000 children in the earthquake-affected regions of Khost and Paktia in the southeastern provinces of Afghanistan.

In a tweet on Sunday, UNICEF Afghanistan tweeted that these community-based classrooms in the Khost region and Paktia province will enable 4,000 children, both boys and girls, a prospect to learn, which they failed due to an earthquake.

In the month of June, a 5.9-magnitude earthquake shook parts of Afghanistan, including the capital city Kabul killing more than 1,000 people across the Barmal and Giyan districts in the Paktika region and Spera district in Khost province. The destructive earthquake that thrashed the southeastern parts of the country led to numerous children losing their fathers, mothers, and loved ones.

The earthquake disaster took the lives of more than a thousand people, and many people were left homeless- without a place to live because the earthquake was so powerful that many residential homes were ruined.

Earlier in August, (UNHCR)- the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, announced the building of 2,300 “earthquake-resilient” houses for those affected by earthquakes in the Khost and Paktia regions has commenced.
