Union Budget 2022-23 For Education: 'One Class, One TV Channel' To Digital University

As per the Budget Session 2022-23, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitaraman has announced to expand 'One Class, One TV Channel' from 12 to 200 TV channels under PM eVIDYA program. This will help all states to provide supplementary education to Class 01 to Class 12 students in regional languages.
FM also announced to introduce the new e-learning content delivery platforms via the internet, smartphones, and TV to help rural and semi-urban areas' students.
The FM also announced to introduce the Digital Universities to overcome the education loss caused by the COVID. The govt will build the varsity on the hub and spoke model. She also announced to recognize five institutions as Centres of Excellence on Urban Planning. The curriculum of these institutions will be developed by the AICTE.
While presenting the Budget, the FM laid emphasis on enhancing skilling programmes and on digital education. She further made the announcement to allow top-notch foreign universities to offer programmes such as fintech, engineering, maths, science, tech, and financial management free from domestic regulations
In addition to this, the Govt will align the National Skill Qualification Framework with dynamic industry needs.
FM also announced to launch the Digital Ecosystem for Skilling & Livelihood e-portal to enable the introduction of relevant entrepreneurial opportunities and jobs among citizens.
Sitaraman also highlighted the importance of Agri Education. She also stressed revising the syllabus of agricultural universities to support natural, zero-budget & organic farming, modern-day agriculture.
Funds:
For 2022-23, the Finance Ministry has made significant increments in the overall budget allocation in the education sector.
The Centre has enhanced the allocation of finances to Rs. 1.04 lakh crores, as compared to 93,224 crores in 2021-22. The Govt will also grant the fund of Rs. 250 crore each to the five institutions that will be designated as the centre of excellence.
The school education outlay has been increased to 63,449.37 crores (9000 crores more than the last allocation).
The funds for the Samagra Shisha Abhiyaan, the biggest school education scheme in the country, has been increased to 37,383.36 crores (6000 crores more than the last allocation).
The Kendriya Vidyalayas have been allocated funds of Rs. 7650 crore and Navodaya Vidyalayas of Rs. 4115 crores for the upcoming FY.
The budget for the Higher Education Dept has also been increased by 6.6%. The Centre has allocated Rs, 40828 crores for the upcoming FY, as compared to the last year's Rs. 38350.65 crores.
