Union Cabinet has granted approval to the proposal to launch affiliated Sainik Schools under the Sainik Schools Society. The Sainik School Society is under the aegis of the Ministry of Defence. The Cabinet was being chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

These newly affiliated Sainik Schools will be different and distinct from the existing ones of MoD and will work as an exclusive upstanding.

In the 1st phase, the Cabinet has proposed 100 affiliate partners to be drawn from States/ Private/ NGO partners.

The aim of the affiliation is to enhance focus on education value to enable students to develop pride in the nation's heritage and culture, productive leadership, discipline, patriotism, and a sense of national duty.

This will benefit larger populations across all regions and is cost-effective. It will also meet the rising demand for Sainik Schools to provide effective intellectual, physical, spiritual, cognitive, emotional, and psycho-social development.

Starting from the academic session 2022-23, around 5,000 students will receive admission to 100 affiliated schools.
