Ramesh Pokhriyal, Union Education Minister, scheduled a high-level meeting with the top officials to evaluate the implementation of the NEP (New Education Policy) 2020. As per the sources, the meeting continued for an hour-long where the progress regarding the NEP 2020 was reviewed.
The officials also notified that the meeting also discussed the universalization of education from the pre-school level to the secondary level as it is one of the major goals of the NEP.
Furthermore, the officials added, "The Minister reviewed the progress made in the implementation of NEP in the situation created by COVID-19. Due to the pandemic, the NEP could not progress as expected. With the situation starting to get normal, the Ministry is making all efforts to speed up the implementation of the policy".
The NEP (New Education Policy) was approved in July 2020, revolutionizing the education system of India with some much-needed changes. Some of the major goals of the NEP 2020 is to universalize the education system from pre-school to secondary, replacing the 10+2 structure with 5+3+3+4, usage of mother tongue up to Class 08, redesigning of board exams of Class 10 and Class 12, among others.
