On Wednesday, Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel advocated for offering online education to people who belong to the transgender community.

Transgenders people are usually treated differently across the world. Due to gender differences, they are treated like aliens on earth and suffer from scrutiny and judgment from their peers. Thus, education or gaining wisdom is the only support they have.

While addressing the 25th foundation day celebrations of the UP Rajarshi Tandon Open University virtually, Anandiben Patel said that youth detained in jails should be provided this facility to seek education.

She said the transgender community should be given online education facilities. Youth in jails should also be benefitted from the open education system. She added they would be capable to earn their livelihood by doing some constructive work in society after their sentence.

Patel also said that the open university could play a significant role in educating all sections of society. The universities should take the students on tours to make them aware of what is going on outside, she added.
