Yogi Adityanath, the Chief Minister of UP, will distribute free tablets and smartphones to more than 01 crore final year students across the state.
The govt will launch the first phase of the scheme on the birth anniversary of former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee i.e. Dec 25. In the first phase, the Govt will distribute 01 lakh tablets and smartphones to final year students at Lucknow's Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Stadium.
CM Yogi announced the news and also informed that a great number of students from across the state will be participating in the programme.
The Govt will distribute 40,000 tablets and 60,000 smartphones to the youths. As per the statement, these free gadgets will be distributed among 01 crore students to bridge the technology gap.
The preference will be given to the final year students of BA, MA, BSc, ITI, MD, MBBS, BTech, and MTech, among others.
The Special Secretary of IT and Electronics Department Kumar Vineet informed that over 38 lakh youths have been registered on the Digi Shakti Portal. Further registration is still open.
The Govt has also issued orders to companies such as Samsung, Lava, and Acer for the supply of these gadgets that will be fulfilled before Dec 24.
