The Uttrakhand Government has taken the decision to provide money to the students studying in government schools to purchase books. The money will be transferred directly to their bank accounts via the DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer) scheme.



Earlier, the government distributed books to around 08 lakh students studying in Class 01 to Class 12. R M Sundaram, Education Secretary notified that the government, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, was physically distributing the books to the students.



He further added, "Since the situation has improved, we have decided to transfer the amount for the books directly to their bank accounts".



The students from Class 01 to Class 05 will be granted Rs. 250, students till Class 08 will be granted Rs. 400, and the students till Class 12 (SC/ ST) Category will be granted Rs. 700 to Rs. 1200.
