India's hold in the global education industry is very important since India is considered among the countries which has one of the largest networks of higher education institutions in the world.

Moreover, the aim of the government is to increase the ratio to 30 percent by 2020 will also escalate the growth of education in India.

India has the world’s largest population of about 500 million and this provides a great opportunity for the education sector. The number of colleges and universities in India reached 39,931 and 993, respectively in 2018-19.

After the U.S, India has achieved the mark of being the second-largest market for e-learning.

The Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi launched the Skill– ‘Kaushal Bharat, Kushal Bharat’. Under this initiative, the government has set itself a target of training 400 million citizens by 2022 which would enable them to find jobs.

The Government is promoting a new scheme ‘Study in India’ to bring foreign students to higher educational institutions. Government initiatives are being adopted on a large scale to boost the growth of Distance Learning which focuses on new education techniques, such as E-learning and M-learning.
