The Odisha government has commenced the online registration process for the extended KALIA Scholarship scheme, catering to students from farmers’ families. The registration window will be open until January 31, focusing on providing assistance to children pursuing technical and professional courses in private institutes within and outside the state.
The recent modifications to the scheme aim to offer scholarships to students undertaking technical, professional, and allied courses like engineering, medicine, agriculture, nursing, and ITI trades, among others. Eligible institutions encompass those with the AISHE code, including prestigious ones like IITs, NITs, AIIMS, and various premier institutions nationwide.
This revised initiative extends support beyond government institutions within the state, now encompassing premier institutions both within and outside the state. Scholarships will span up to two years for postgraduate courses and four years for Ph.D. programs, aligning with eligible post-graduation courses in government institutions within the state.
Since its launch in 2021-22, approximately 1,789 students have been enrolled under the Krushak Assistance for Livelihood and Income Augmentation Scholarship (KALIA) scheme. The primary objective remains to accommodate students from families of small farmers and agricultural laborers, ensuring access to educational opportunities.
The scholarship amounts for students attending private and premier institutions will be disbursed based on approved rates, supporting their pursuit of higher education and professional development.
