Amazon initiated a computer science education programme Amazon Future Engineer which acknowledges the necessity to support Indigenous leaders in creating solutions that work for Indigenous communities.

Via the programme, Amazon has declared a commitment of $2.25 million in order to support Indigitize Computer Science, a new initiative created in collaboration with The One Gen Fund to support Indigenous schools and school districts in accessing culturally responsive computer science curriculums.

Indigitize aspires to advance participation and construct momentum for long-term computer science education programmes for Indigenous students and teachers. The programme will also offer summer, after-school, and online learning experiences. It will develop ways for Indigenous youth to teach computer science to other Indigenous students and build a network of partners that address essential barriers to accessing computer science education.

The programme will allow access to high-quality computer science education and career opportunities for students from underserved communities. In the first year of its launch, Amazon aims at enabling and delivering learning opportunities to more than 1 lakh students from 900 government and aided schools across seven Indian states.

Amazon is functioning with its global knowledge counterpart Code.org, a global non-profit organization committed to computer science education.
