The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has taken significant steps in advancing skill education and empowering teachers by teaming up with 15 prominent organizations. This collaborative effort aims to provide students with a broad spectrum of expertise and exposure to cutting-edge technologies, preparing them for the challenges of the future.
CBSE's partnership network includes esteemed entities such as Atal Innovation Mission, IBM, Intel, Microsoft, and various sector skill councils like apparel made-ups and home furnishing, automotive, sports, physical education, fitness, and leisure, logistics, furniture and fittings, life sciences, textiles, and healthcare. By joining forces with these skill providers, CBSE seeks to develop skill modules, create study materials for skill subjects, organize competitions and hackathons for students, and conduct comprehensive training programmes for teachers.
A key driving force behind these initiatives is the National Education Policy (NEP), which aims to foster closer collaboration between academia and industry. The curriculum requires to be aligned with industry requirements, ensuring that students gain valuable exposure through internships and apprenticeships, thereby bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-world applications. It is crucial to equip teachers with the necessary skills and knowledge to achieve the desired outcomes, and CBSE is fully committed to updating its capacities through these strategic partnerships.
In addition to skill development and education, CBSE has also ventured into the realm of assessment. The board has teamed up with the Central Square Foundation (CSF) to introduce SAFAL, a competency-based census assessment designed for grades 3, 5, and 8. The collaboration aims to prepare high-quality competency-based assessments, enhancing school development and student learning outcomes.
Furthermore, CBSE has enlisted the expertise of Educational Initiatives Pvt Ltd and Oxford University Press India to focus on teacher capacity building. They are tasked with developing training modules that cater to subjects such as English, mathematics, science, and social science. Additionally, these partners will work on updating existing capacity-building programs, with a special focus on strengthening assessment and evaluation methods. Furthermore, they will contribute to the development of a Capacity Building Programme (CBP) aligned with the National Curriculum Framework Foundational Stage (NCF-FS).
CBSE aims to revolutionize the educational landscape through these multifaceted partnerships and collaborative initiatives, equipping students and teachers with the necessary skills and knowledge to thrive in an ever-changing world.
