On June 1, officials from the Ministry of Education said the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) might be ready with its own TV channel by the month of July.

In Budget 2022, union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan declared that the education ministry would launch 200 TV channels at Rs 1,000 crore to deliver combined learning access to students across the nation.

Additional Secretary, Department of school education & Literacy, Lamchonghoi Sweety Changsan, said the Ministry of Education had publicized the launch of 200 TV channels. We will also look more closely at integrated learning via TV, radio, and other mediums, not just on the web (internet). CBSE will get one of these mediums.

When asked about the overlap of many higher education entrance exams, Nidhi Chhibber, CBSE chairperson, said the Department of higher education constituted a committee to map all the examinations to confirm that students get sufficient time to prepare for them.

NCF will be out soon

Speaking at the same event, the secretary of the Department of school education and Literacy said the National Curriculum Framework (NCF) would be in the public domain in “maybe a month or six weeks”. The Ministry of Education issued the draft NCF on April 6, 2023.

The draft NCF has suggested a semester system approach for Class 12 students and the opportunity to write board examinations twice. The draft also proposed to do away with traditional practices of categorizing domains into science, commerce, and humanities streams, substituting them with more comprehensive curricular areas. The education ministry has invited comments on the document.
