The Delhi Govt signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the International Baccalaureate for the Delhi Board of School Education.

The MoU was signed in front of the Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, among other officials from the education department.

Kehriwal informed about the collaboration through his Twitter handle, saying, "The Delhi government signs an MoU with International Baccalaureate (IB) Board. IB will be associated with the upcoming Delhi Board of School Education. Now Delhi’s Education Revolution will reach newer heights with DBSE and IB collaboration".

The education department is collaborating with multiple knowledge partners for the initiative including the ACER (Australian Council for Educational Research) and BCG (Boston Consulting Group) to provide managerial and technical support to the board and the Schools of Specialised Excellence.

The Delhi Cabinet has approved to set up 100 schools of specialised excellence.

Earlier, the government announced that 30 govt schools will be affiliated under the newly-formed state board in 2021-22 academic session. Out of 30, a total of 20 will be SoSE to offer specialised education in four streams -- STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics), Performing and Visual Arts, Humanities, and "High- End 21st Century Skills".

Out of these 20 in the first phase, 08 schools will specialise in STEM, 05 in humanities and skills, and the rest two in performing and visual arts.

In the first year, the students will be admitted at Class 9 level in SoSEs in Performing and Visual Arts, Humanities, and High-End 21st Century skills. Whereas in the STEM schools, students will be offered admissions at Class 09 and Class 11 levels.

For admission in SoSEs, the students will have to pass an Aptitude Test. The schedule of the Test will be announced later.
