The Social Justice and Empowerment Minister, Government of India, Virendra Kumar will launch the Dr Ambedkar Centre of Excellence on April 22, 2022. The Banaras Hindu University will be hosting the national launch of the Centre.

The Govt is launching the Centres to provide coaching facilities for UPSC Civil Services Examination to SC (Scheduled Caste) students.

The proposed centre will be set up across 31 Central Universities from all over the nation and Banaras Hindu University is one of them.

The launch programme is scheduled to be held at the Shatabdi Krishi Prekshagrih of the Institute of Agricultural Sciences. At the event, the Vice-chancellors of all the universities, where the centre will be set up, will also be present.

The Dr Ambedkar Foundation and implementing universities will also sign two memorandum of understanding (MoU) to establish the centres and Dr Ambedkar Chairs.

For coaching, each centre will offer 100 seats and more than 33% of total sanctioned seats will preferably be offered to the eligible SC Female candidates. Around 03 faculty members will be appointed in each centre.

The centres will also have separate classrooms, WiFi connectivity, a library, and other needed infrastructure for well-ordered functioning. To avail of coaching, the interested aspirants can take admission through an Entrance Test.
