IIT Guwahati To Join Hands With Central & State Bodies To Enhance Northeastern Health Sector

IIT Guwahati: The Indian Institute of Technology IIT (Guwahati) joined hands with central and state authorities to enhance the health sector of the northeast region. The collaboration involves developing a digital highway for the stakeholders of the healthcare ecosystem by assuring accessibility, affordability, inclusivity, and interoperability.



According to a statement, IIT Guwahati is actively participating in numerous initiatives. These initiatives aim at improving the health sector in the northeast region.



The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT Guwahati) recently introduced the first Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) workshop with other north-eastern states to comprehend the challenges and hardships confronted by the states. It aims to help the states to prepare a future roadmap.



A statement from IIT Guwahati said that the state mission directors & their representatives from- Meghalaya, Manipur, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Sikkim, Nagaland, Tripura, and Mizoram have actively participated in the workshop and displayed their way forward, and support needed from the National Health Authority, Government of India.



The National Health Authority plans to conduct regional workshops throughout the country to explain various myths about ABDM and the challenges of ABDM adoption proposed by the Mission Steering Group of ABDM.



To construct the capacities of the state for improved adoption of ABDM, the National Health Authority has also carried out training of master trainers at the state level in partnership with the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT Guwahati).



Recently, a batch of 34 participants from Mizoram, Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Tripura, Nagaland, Manipur, and Sikkim progressively participated in this programme organised by the Jyoti and Bhupat Mehta School of Health Sciences & Technology at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT Guwahati).



Professor TC Sitharam, Director of IIT Guwahati, addressed the participants and stakeholders and emphasized the role that engineers of IIT can play in the ABDM mission. The professor encouraged the broader collaboration between the NHA and newly established multidisciplinary schools or IIT Guwahati on Health Science Technology, Data Science, and Artificial Intelligence.
