IIT-Madras Joined Hands with Sutherland to Offer Financial Aid to 10,000 NPTEL Students

IIT Madras: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT Madras) partnered with Sutherland in order to support the education of 10,000 students belonging to enconomically unprivileged backgrounds. This initiative by IIT Madras is being taken as part of the Corporate Citizens programme of Sutherland.



Under this great initiative, selected students will be offered scholarships that will help lower the expense of certification by 50%. The scholarship funding enables selected students to receive a certificate in the National programme on Technology Enhanced Learning (NPTEL) online courses for the January 2022 semester.



The funding supported 10,000 beneficiaries from around 160 colleges in 18 states across the country. After each online course, an optional in-person, the proctored examination is carried out for a certificate which includes a cost of Rs. 1,000.



The selection of students has been done via a network of Local Chapters or colleges with whom the National programme on Technology Enhanced Learning (NPTEL) partners. The institute disclosed that till now, more than 1.4 lakh students have been supported through NPTEL examination scholarships.



The NPTEL is a collaborative initiative of IITs, including the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) and IIT Madras, under the Ministry of Education (MoE), Government of India. This initiative delivers over 600 courses for certification every semester in engineering disciplines, humanities, management, and sciences.
