The Indian High Commission has commenced its visa application process for the new Young Professionals Scheme (YPS) for UK graduates to correspond with the ballot opened by the British High Commission, New Delhi for Indian students.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi signed off the exchange scheme with his British counterpart, Rishi Sunak, at the G20 Summit 2022 held in Indonesia. Under the scheme, Indian and British graduates aged between 18 years to 30 years can apply for live and work Visas in either country for the duration of up to 02 years.
There are certain eligibility criteria to apply for a visa under this scheme, including a graduate degree and sufficient funds.
Indian High Commissioner, while announcing the scheme's launch, said, "Under the Young Professionals Scheme, announced about a month ago, young citizens of India and the UK can visit each other for up to two years at a time". He further added, "I am pleased to be able to tell you that the scheme goes live from February 28. We will be launching this simultaneously in Delhi and in London, respectively for Indians to come to the UK and British citizens to go to India".
The details have been updated on Indian High Commission’s website, at a fee set at 720 pounds. Interested candidates can apply under the E-1 Visa through the VFS Global visa service provider, indicating "application under the India-UK YPS programme" as a purpose.
The ballot is free to enter and will remain open till March 02. The shortlisted candidates in the ballot must apply for their visa within 30 days or the mentioned deadline and they must travel to the UK within 06 months of applying for the visa.
