The Indian Army has launched the 'Army HPCL Kashmir Super 50' initiative to prepare students for competitive exams by providing free medical education. The program has been launched in the North Kashmir areas.

Under the program, the Army will also provide financial aid to the students who have taken admission into esteemed medical colleges by sponsoring their college fees.

Wahid Farooq who is a teacher in the Army-sponsored institute informed that there are 20 girls and 30 boys who, under the Army's initiative, are being provided free coaching.

The students are shortlisted through a written examination and an interview round.

The project was started in 2018 and a written examination was conducted to shortlist the students. A total of 30 students were shortlisted, out of which 25 cleared their medical entrance examinations. In 2021, the project was converted from Super 30 to Super 50 and the girls were also inducted that year.

Once the students clear their entrance exams, their fees will also be sponsored by the Army, added Farooq.

The fees of the coaching institutions are mostly high, around 01 to 02 lakh, which is hard for some of the students to bear. The programme is helping so many students in achieving their dreams to become a doctor without worrying about financial obstacles.
