According to the release from the Gujarat government, an IIS (Indian Institute of Skills) is being set up in the Gandhinagar district of Gujarat. The institute is being set up by the Labour and Employment Department in partnership with the Tata Group on a non-profit PPP model.

Tata's high-powered team visited the site and gave a presentation to the govt. officials following which Additional Chief Secretary of Labour and Employment Department Vipul Mittra advised the team to start work at the earliest. As per the official release, twenty acres of land has been allotted by the state government for the institute at Namsad village (20 kms from Ahmedabad) whereas the Tata Group is contributing the capital investment through its Tata Education Development Trust.

The aim of the institute will be to prepare skilled manpower in the streams of cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, augmented reality, additive manufacturing, cloud-based application, system integration, simulation solutions, among others.

The Union Govt, apart from Gujarat, has also approved IISs in Kanpur and Mumbai, as per the official release.
