Several students have written letters addressed to the JAB (Joint Admission Board) requesting the third attempt in JEE Advanced 2022.

Weeks after the declaration of the results of the Joint Entrance Examination-Advanced (JEE-Adv), several students who passed class 12 in 2020 are requesting another attempt at the test in the next academic session.

According to the JEE rules, three attempts at JEE Mains are provided to each student who clears Class 12 and two attempts at JEE-Adv. These attempts include the passing year of the students as well.

Mohammad Areeb, who attempted JEE-Adv in 2020 and 2021, informed that the students who passed Class 12 in 2020 used their two attempts at JEE in the troubled environment as the nation was suffering and struggling with surging COVID cases. Similarly, the second wave affected next year many students and their families personally including many of them who lost someone. It was hard for the students to prepare in such an environment, added Md Areeb. This poor preparation affected their overall performance in both years (2020 and 2022).

Another student who also attempted the exam informed that it was hard to prepare in COVID times due to the lack of an internet connection or digital device, especially in rural areas.

Last year, JAB permitted students who registered for the JEE Adv 2020 but couldn't attempt due to the COVID to appear in the 2021 session.
