The Jammu and Kashmir Govt has formally launched the 'Skill Hub Initiative' programme under the Samagra Shiksha project. The Project Director of Samagra Shiksha Deep Raj Kanethia informed that a total of 40 schools have been identified in the Union Territory and designated as 'skill hubs'.



Initially, the Govt will launch the programme in 09 government schools as a pilot project.



The programme 'Skill Hub Initiative' is a part of the PMKVY (Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojna) 3.0. The programme was launched on Jan 01, across the country, and will be executed through the NSDC (National Skill Development Corporation). The State Skill Development Missions will also support the scheme.



The aim of the scheme is to provide NSDC certified skill programmes to out of school children, dropouts, and youth. The scheme also aims at preparing these candidates for employment as well as self-entrepreneurship.



Kanethia also added that the shortlisted 09 schools under the pilot project will impart training in NSDC certified programmes. Eventually, the scheme will be extended to other schools.



The 'Skill Hubs' are located in different districts including Budgam, Reasi, Anantnag, Srinagar, Poonch, Kishtwar, Jammu, and Pulwama.
