The Jammu and Kashmir Govt has permitted the reopening of higher educational institutions and schools for Class 10 and Class 12 students with strict COVID guidelines.

Chief Secretary A K Mehta took the decision in a meeting. He also decided to maintain several COVID guidelines, including night curfew.

Earlier on April 18, the state administration had ordered to shut all educational institutions, including colleges and universities, till further notice, to prevent the spread of COVID virus.

Mr. Mehta is the chairperson of the SEC (State Executive Committee) and he, after reviewing the COVID situation, stated that the Class 12 students would be allowed in-person attendance with not more than 50 % capacity

The Govt has also notified that the students who wish to attend physical classes must produce a written consent from their parents. The school authorities have also been notified regarding the thorough sanitization of the school premises and proper screening regarding vaccination.

If any other staff member or student shows symptoms of cold, cough, or fever, they will not be permitted inside the school. The schools have also been advised to make sure that COVID protocols and the social distancing guidelines are strictly being followed.

The Deputy Commissioners can also allow physical classes for Class 10 students following all protocols.

The schools for other classes will continue to remain shut for in-person teaching.

The order further states that the coaching centres for NEET, Engineering, and Civil Services examinations will be allowed with limited attendance for fully vaccinated students and staff.
