LG Inaugurates Numerous Essential Endeavors in the Education Sector of J&K
The Lt Governor inaugurated 110 civil works, including 84 school buildings and other infrastructures. He applied the foundation for sports infrastructure in 100 schools and two residential schools for tribal students, one each in Rajouri and Shopian, and NIELIT courses for classes 6th to 12th. Manoj also launched a Mentorship Program and the TALAASH App for the current 93,508 recognized out-of-school children.

Yesterday, During the grand ceremony organized by SKICC, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha started multiple key initiatives in the education sector. The Lt Governor inaugurated 110 civil works, including 84 school buildings and other infrastructures. He applied the foundation for sports infrastructure in 100 schools and two residential schools for tribal students, one each in Rajouri and Shopian, and NIELIT courses for classes 6th to 12th.



Manoj also launched a Mentorship Program and the TALAASH App for the current 93,508 recognized out-of-school children, besides laying the foundation for 500 Atal Tinkering Labs- 250 each in Jammu and Kasmir regions and 188 Model Kindergartens and 1935 pre-primary sections.



Samagra Shiksha J&K and HCL signed an MoU (memorandum of understanding) for the TECHBEE program for students in 12th standard at UT. Manoj Sinha congratulated the School Education Department and the student community and said that the key initiatives, including 84 new School Buildings, the launch of NIELIT courses, the TALAASH App, Atal Tinkering Labs, Pre-primary classes, and the State Mentoring Project, will help to strengthen their early childhood care & education and skilling ecosystem.



He further said that the infrastructure projects, schemes, and initiatives dedicated to the future generation of j&K would invest in them without thinking- Scientific temper, consciousness, and playfulness to produce future-ready, global citizens of the 21st century. This new initiative would readdress the teaching-learning procedure and bring considerable changes in the overall performance of the schools. He added that their efforts also focus on knowledge & values, the development of quotient, and intelligence quotient to help child o grow into well-balanced personalities.



He appreciated the efforts of the School Education Department for successfully bringing a large number of out-of-school students, from students of deprived sections to schools through initiatives like Dastak, Talaash, and Aao School Chalen. He also described pleasure for J&K's better functioning and ranking in the NISHTHA program compared to other states. He added that we overcome various old restrictions and conducted more than 20 lakh surveys to determine mainstream out-of-school students. The School Education Department has shown active participation in enrolment and retention and bridging the gender gaps.



Lt Governor commented that the National Education Policy- NEP had assigned the foundations for developing the capabilities of a child to optimum potential. He said that NEP 2020 takes special care in offering students an opportunity to study the subjects according to their interests and ability so that their talent is developed and encouraged without any pressure.



Lt Governor spoke about the role of the teacher and stated that the Student Teacher Engagement for Educational Reinforcement (STEER) would revolutionalize the school education system by recognizing learning gaps and understanding the limitations of the students and their potential providing the teachers an opportunity to bring changes in teaching techniques.



More than 21,000 schools have been covered, and five lakh students mapped under the mentorship program. In addition, 40,000 teachers are trained to mentor students in a 1:10 ratio.



Later, Lt Governor asked the School Education Department, teachers, and student community to participate in the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign. He also asked the department to maintain focus on issues like the rationalization of teachers. He also congratulated the 10th standard toppers for their extraordinary performance in the examination. He reviewed innovative projects and models put up for display created by various schools.



Rajeev Rai Bhatnagar, Advisor to Lt Governor in his address hailed the School Education Department, teachers, and the student community for the new future-oriented initiatives aimed at enhancing the education system in the UT. The Secretary of School Education, BK Singh, briefed about the actions being made by the education department to execute the National Education Policy in J&K and assure quality education for all children. At the end of the occasion, Projector Director Samagra Shiksha, Deep Raj Kanethia, presented the vote of thanks to everyone.
