On Wednesday, (NIELIT)- Tech titan Microsoft and the National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology announced cooperation to boost access to skills for jobs via Cyber Shikshaa and Ready4Cybersecurity programmes.
About 3,500 learners will get training and obtain internship or employment opportunities for in-demand cybersecurity jobs. NIELIT & Microsoft will use Cyber Shikshaa and Ready4Cybersecurity programmes in 30 training centres of NIELIT in Tier 2 and 3 towns, with an emphasis on Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, and all the states in the North-East region of India.
NIELIT and Microsoft have joined hands to train youth in cybersecurity skills for jobs, a release said, adding that these programmes would be scaled in following years to merge cybersecurity training programmes in all the training centres of the National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology. The global cybersecurity skills gap and the shortage of diversity in the workforce are among the critical issues confronting the digital economy. Studies indicate that 3.4 million people are required to fill the global cybersecurity workforce gap.
The cooperation between NIELIT and Microsoft will help decrease the talent deficit for cybersecurity professionals and deliver employment possibilities for 1,100 underserved youth in the pilot year of deployment," the release reported. Further, it said that nearly 3,500 learners would take training and obtain internships or job opportunities for cybersecurity jobs. Apart from delivering grants for training Microsoft's support will include curriculum content, mentorship opportunities, and certifications.
As the country's exclusive institution for examination and certification in the area of Information, Electronics, and Communications Technology (IECT),
NIELIT aims to develop qualified professionals and offer support to learners and trainers through the design and development of curriculum and the addition of content.
The development comes amid Microsoft Chairman & CEO Satya Nadella's visit to India. Satya Nadella, on a four-day multi-city tour, was in Mumbai on Tuesday and in Delhi on Wednesday.
He will also visit Bengaluru and Hyderabad. On Wednesday, Nadella called on Rajeev Chandrasekhar, Minister of State for Electronics and IT. Rajeev Chandrashekar invited Microsoft's CEO to invest in India's extending innovation and startup ecosystem.
