The Railway Ministry announced recruiting candidates for Indian Railway Management Service (IRMS) via the UPSC Civil Services exam.

The previous recruitment examination for Indian Railway Management Service (IRMS) has been declined, and UPSC civil services will be the qualifying examination for IRMS candidates.

A day after the presentation of the Union Budget 2023-24, the Ministry of Railways decided to recruit candidates in consultation with UPSC and DoPT.

Earlier in December, the Railway Ministry informed that candidates would be recruited via the IRMS exam to be held by UPSC.

As per the ministry statement, the UPSC Civil Services Prelims examination will serve as the qualifying examination for the IMRS Mains exam. The exam structure will be the same as CSE in terms of syllabus, pattern, age limit, etc.

Meanwhile, the UPSC Civil Services enrollment began on February 1, 2023, and will shut down on February 21, 2023. Candidates who wish to register for the examination can apply online by visiting the official site of UPSC- upsc.gov.in.

The UPSC preliminary exam will be held on May 28, 2023. This year, 1105 vacant seats will be filled via this recruitment drive. The examination application correction window will open on February 22, 2023, and close on February 28, 2023. For further details, candidates must visit the official website.
