PM Modi Hails Cabinet Decisions Approving Medical Devices Policy, putting up 157 govt Nursing Institutes
In another judgment, the Union Cabinet approved National Medical Devices Policy 2023 in order to boost domestic manufacturing and support the sunrise sector growth from the current USD 11 billion (one billion = 100 crore) to USD 50 billion in the following five years and decrease import dependency.

Today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi hailed the Union Cabinet's acceptance of the National Medical Devices Policy 2023, stating it will strengthen the health sector and further measures to make India a leader in developing and exporting medical devices.
He added that the cabinet decision authorizing the installation of 157 brand-new nursing institutes is splendid news for aspiring nursing specialists in India. He said the co-location with existing medical institutes also represents the optimum usage of resources. On Wednesday, the Union Cabinet authorized the establishment of 157 nursing institutes for Rs 1,570 crore in co-location with the medical colleges set up in the nation since the year 2014.
In another judgment, the Union Cabinet approved National Medical Devices Policy 2023 in order to boost domestic manufacturing and support the sunrise sector growth from the current USD 11 billion (one billion = 100 crore) to USD 50 billion in the following five years and decrease import dependency.
In a tweet, Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated that this is an important decision taken by the Cabinet, which will boost the health sector and further our efforts to make India a leader in making as well as exporting medical devices.

In recent news, NMC (National Medical Commission) approved six medical colleges in Telangana to start classes for the 2023-24 academic year. The NMC has authorized 100 MBBS seats in these institutes.
